In the busyness of life especially when juggling school, work, and personal responsibilities it’s so easy to suppress or overlook our emotions. We tell ourselves we don’t have time to feel, or maybe we fear what will surface if we allow ourselves to pause. But feeling emotions, as uncomfortable as it can sometimes be, is a vital part of living authentically.

I’ve been in that space recently: juggling too much, feeling overwhelmed, and pushing emotions aside just to “get through the day.” But here’s what I’ve realized: the more I avoid my feelings, the louder they begin to knock at my door. They show up in ways I didn’t expect ; tension in my body, irritability, trouble sleeping, and that feeling of heaviness that I can’t shake off.

Taking a moment to Feel your emotions, truly sitting with them takes courage. It’s uncomfortable to face sadness, anger, or fear because we often want to avoid pain. But the truth is, emotions are messengers. They’re not “good” or “bad”; they just are. Sadness can tell us we’re longing for connection. Anger might signal that our boundaries have been crossed. Fear could mean we’re stepping into the unknown. By acknowledging what we feel, we give ourselves the opportunity to process, learn, and heal. It’s not weakness; it’s strength.

I used to think feeling emotions was a sign of weakness or something that would hold me back. But I’ve come to understand that allowing myself to feel opens doors to healing and growth. When we stop numbing ourselves, we rediscover joy, hope, and connection.

If you’re feeling a lot lately, know this: you are not alone. It’s okay to pause, to feel, to let those emotions rise and fall. You are stronger for it, not weaker. And when you honor your emotions, you honor yourself.

So here’s my reminder to you as well as to myself is that you need to slow down, take a breath, and let yourself feel. There’s power and healing in embracing it all.

What emotions have you been sitting with lately? How are you finding space to honor them?

Let’s open up the conversation this is a safe space.
