Over the past couple of months, I’ve been diving into Mel Robbins’ Let Them Theory and tuning into her podcast. At first, it was something I’d casually listen to during my rides or quiet moments. But lately honey let me tell you….. it’s been hitting different.

There’s something about the way Mel breaks things down real, raw, and relatable. She talks about letting go of the urge to control how others show up in your life. Let them judge you. Let them doubt you. Let them walk away.

Simple words, right? But the freedom in that…  is life-changing.

Just this past weekend, I was on my way home with her podcast playing in the background when she shared a metaphor that stopped me mid-thought. It was about a tree and y’all, it hit hard.

She said: “You are the tree. Grounded. Rooted in who you are and who you’re becoming. And the branches? That’s everyone else. People who grow with you or fall away with the seasons. And when a branch breaks? The tree still stands. Still grows. Still thrives.”

Whew.

I sat in silence, just letting it all sink in. I realized how much energy I’ve spent trying to hold onto branches that were already splintering friends, expectations, situations. Trying to keep things from falling when maybe just maybe they were supposed to.

I’m learning to let them.
Let people be who they are, even if that means they can’t come with me in this season. It doesn’t make me cold it makes me rooted.

So here’s where I’m at:
I’m choosing to be the tree.
I’m choosing peace.
I’m choosing growth even if it means shedding some things along the way.

And maybe, just maybe…
