A Trait I Value About Myself

By

What’s the trait you value most about yourself?

If I’m honest, the trait I value most about myself is my resilience. I don’t always feel strong, and I don’t always get it right, but no matter how many times life knocks me down, I keep finding ways to move forward. That, to me, is something worth holding on to.

Resilience doesn’t always look like some grand victory. Sometimes it’s the small, quiet choices that nobody else sees. It’s getting up on mornings when I’d rather stay buried under the covers. It’s giving myself grace when I don’t have the energy to be everything for everyone. It’s allowing myself to pause instead of quitting. On the outside, those things might look simple, but for me, they’ve been evidence that I can keep going even when it feels like I can’t.

What I’ve learned is that resilience doesn’t mean I never break. It doesn’t mean I don’t cry, question myself, or feel overwhelmed. It means I trust that even when I do break, I won’t stay broken. I’ll find my way back to myself again. And sometimes that’s the most powerful part the comeback, not the fall.

I think valuing this trait has helped me reframe the way I see challenges. Instead of looking at them as failures, I try to see them as teachers. Every setback carries a lesson, every struggle shows me a part of myself I didn’t know was there. And with each season I survive, I gain proof that I am more capable than I often believe.

I don’t claim to have it all together I never will. But resilience reminds me that I don’t have to. As long as I keep choosing to rise, in whatever way I can, that will always be enough.

Reflection
Take a moment to think about the trait you value most about yourself. Maybe it’s your patience, your kindness, your curiosity, or your ability to keep trying no matter what. Write it down, say it out loud, or simply hold it close. Sometimes recognizing our own strengths is the first step to living them more fully.
